What's in a Name?

So, I've never really written a blog before. Not *really*. Maybe every once in a blue moon when I was a teenager. I'm not sure how often blue moons appear in nature, but probably less than my past blog posting. About the name, though....when I was a teenager, I would frequently name my web adventures as "Amber's Spunky Little" something-or-others. Hoping to update that with something different but similar, (after a person ages ago informed me that, unfortunately, the cute word "spunky" also has a pornographic meaning :'( ) I consulted my handy-dandy thesaurus, and found that "derring-do" has a similar meaning to the definition of spunky I was looking for. As suggested, I saw also "derring-do", and found that "Derring-do ... derives, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, from a 'chain of misunderstandings and errors.'" I like the sound of "chain of misunderstandings and errors"; it sounds a lot like what you would find in a blog about myself. So I copied the phrasing. Is that plagiarism? Oh well, it sounds good! I suppose I could always rename it to "A Series of Unfortunate Events". Surely *that* phrasing is unique! ;)

  2. Haha, that's funny, and also not funny at all, and I'm sorry that your pet word was bastardized. I wonder what 'spunky' refers to in the adult context. I also think it might be better simply not to know.
Did you have Shakespeare in mind when you titled this blog post? A rose by any other name... And then, 'A chain of errors' immediately reminded me of Shakespeare, too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Comedy_of_Errors
And I also have no idea how often an actual blue moon occurs. My dad would know. He's very into astronomy things.
